About Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy is a pop punk, pop rock band from Illinois, United States.
They have been created in the year 2001 and the band members are the following: lead singer and guitar player Patrick Stump, guitar player Joe Trohman, bass player Pete Wentz and Andy Hurley for the drums.
They have also incorporated the alternative rock genre in their style. In 2002, they worked with the label Uprising Records, switching to Fueled by Ramen in the 2003-2004 period. Since 2004, they have recorded for the Island label.
Having origins in Chicago, the band started from the hardcore punk era, bassist Pete Wentz having been greatly involved in this scene. Wentz and Trohman, both being involved in hardcore punk bands, started Fall Out Boy as a secondary project. Patrick Stump soon joined them and, after searching for drummers, they finally found Andy Hurley.
They started recording immediately and released their first album, titled "Take This to Your Grave", in 2003. The underground scene greatly appreciated the album, which made it possible for them to start touring. Also, commercially speaking, the album has had a medium success.
Fall Out Boy have been associated with other musical acts, such as The Damned Things, With Knives, Enabler, Arma Angelus, Paramore, Project Rocket, Panic! At the Disco, Racetraitor, Black Cards and Enabler. Wentz became the man that wrote the lyrics for their songs, while singer Patrick Stump composed them.
Their second album was a great hit, being called "From Under the Cork Tree". The album ultimately received a double Platinum certification, especially thanks to its two singles. "Dance, Dance" and "Sugar, We’re Going Down" became hit songs for Fall Out Boy.
In 2006, at the Grammy Awards, the band were nominated for the Best New Artist section. In 2007, they released the album "Infinity on High", which reached the top of the Billboard 200 charts. This album spawned two great hits, the singles "ThnksfrthMmrs" and "This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race".
Their album number four wasn’t as successful as the others, not even in the eyes of the fans. It was called "Folie a Deux". After the group released "Believers Never Die – Greatest Hits", they went on a hiatus, which lasted from 2009 to 2012.
In 2013, after regrouping, they recorded and released "Save Rock and Roll", another very successful album. It reached the top of the charts once more and even produced probably their best song to date. The single "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" has been certified triple Platinumand reached top 20 on the charts.
Their most recent album was the 2015 one "American Beauty/American Psycho".
