Quincy Jones is the name of a musician, producer, composer, arranger, actor and conductor.
He has been born with the full name of Quincy Delight Jones, Jr. on the 14th of March, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Throughout his life, he has also been the founder of a magazine and an executive for an entertainment company, as well as an active humanitarian.
In music, the genres that he occupies himself with are diverse, ranging from rhythm and blues and jazz to rock and roll, hip hop and others such as funk, swing, soul, big band, bossa nova.
Quincy Jones has had a lengthy career, being active since the year 1951. During that time, he has worked for the labels Interscope, ABC, Epic, Qwest, Mercury, Columbia and Warner Bros. The year 1968 brought a nomination for Bob Russell and Quincy Jones at the Academy Awards. They were the first Americans with African descents to acquire such a feat. The award they have been nominated for was the Best Original Song one, for their work on "The Eyes of Love".
That song was featured in the movie "Banning" filmed by Universal Pictures. In 1968, Jones was nominated again for an Academy Award. This time, the category of the award was the Best Original Score one. His work on the movie from 1967 called "In Cold Blood" was the score nominated.
Among his career, Jones was even named the conductor, as well as the director of the ceremony of the Academy Awards. He has also received a total of seven Oscar nominations, which is a record.
Quincy Jones is mostly known for producing several of Michael Jackson’s albums, from which we can remember "Off the Wall" from 1979. Later, he produced "Thriller" in 1982, then "Bad" in 1987. In 2013 Jones was included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
