Louis Armstrong is the world's famous singer and jazz trumpeter.
He was born on the 4th of August 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America. Satchmo or Pops (his two most famous nicknames) gained more and more recognition as an famous artist since the beginning of the 20s as a remarkable cornet and trumpet player.
Armstrong's influence in today's jazz music is still remarkable.
He unfortunately died on the 6th of July 1971, at the age of 70. He died peacefully in his sleep of a heart attack. His death came eleven months after playing a famous show at the Waldorf-Astoria's Empire Room. At the time of his death, Louis Armstrong lived in Corona, Queens, New York City.
One of the great assets of Armstrong's, was his gravelly voice. His powerful timbre made him a great influence in the musical world. He also demonstrated a great capacity to improvise.

In 1964, Louis Armstrong won the Grammy Award for Male Vocal Performance.
He was also posthumously awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1972 by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame listed Armstrong's West End Blues on The List Of 500 Songs That shaped Rock and Roll. He was also included in several halls of fame and received multiple honors.
