Vengaboys is a famous Dutch band formed of Kim Sasabone, Robin Pors, Denise Post Van Rijswijk and Donny Latupeirissa.
They were formed in 1996 when the producers Danski and Delmundo were joined by Rachael Carpenter and Olivia Olington.
In 1998, new members joined the group: Roy den Burger, Pors and Van Rijswijk. Soon, they released a new single, "Up & Down", which reached number four on the UK Singles Chart and "We Like To Party", which topped the charts in Belgium and reached many other important charts. The group released the first album once again, renaming it "The Party Album".
In 1999, Vengaboys released one of their biggest hits, "Boom Boom Boom Boom", which was number one in New Zealand, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The album was present in the charts of over 20 national markets. It was again released, this time under the title "Greatest Hits- Part 1", containing five new tracks. In the same year, the band released "The Remix Album", which featured remixes of the initial songs.
"The Platinum Album" was released at the beginning of the year 2000 and many of the songs, including "Shalala Lala", "Kiss (When The Sun Don't Shine)" and "Uncle John From Jamaica", reached the charts in Canada and Jamaica. The next single to be released was "Cheekah Bow Bow (That Computer Song)", followed by "Forever As One".
In 2002, Vengaboys took a break from their musical activity up until 2006.
With additional members, the band started embarking in small tours, especially in colleges and universities. In 2010, they released the single "Rocket To Uranus". Their latest song, "Hot, Hot, Hot" featured 13 remixes. The group has plans of a tour in South Africa.
As part of their achievements, besides the numerous hits which were commercial success and also topped the musical preferences of generations, the band has also won the World Music Award for "Best Selling Dance Group".
Vengaboys are also one of the most influential bands of the beginning of the century. Up to this day, they sold more than 25 million records throughout the world.
Their music has inspired millions of people and receives appreciation more than one decade later.
