About the song

"Stay" is a song from the Barbadian artist Rihanna and Mikky Ekko.

Rihanna's vocal range can go up to E5, over the piano riffs. The lyrics depict very much vulnerability and sensibility around the main theme of the song, which is love.

The single was well received by the music critics, who described it as "confrontationally honest". Rihanna's performance was also praised, with critics stating that she "doesn't need all the controversial romp to top the charts" and how she "never follows the pack but airs her seemingly complex emotions through music's current trend".

After the duo Diamonds" and "Pour It Up". The ballad is a mixture of the pop and R&B genres and it features piano and guitar arrangements.

The music video was directed by Sophie Muller and premiered on February 10th, 2013. It features close takes of Rihanna in a bathtub and also Mikky Ekko near a piano.

"Stay" sold more than four million copies in the United States alone, where it was certified four times platinum by the RIAA.
