Sting, or Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, his real name, was born on October 2nd 1951, in Wallsend, Northumberland, England.
Sting is best known as being part of the rock band The Police, from 1977 to 1984.
He has loved music since he was very young and he used to perform jazz all the time since he was in collage. He moved from Newcastle to London in January 1977. There Sting met Stewart Copeland and Henry Padovani. They built the band named The Police, a very popular band which had a lot of success and got in top positions of music charts with many tracks.
Sting decided to leave The Police during a concert on August 18th 1983.
His first live solo appearance was in September 1981, when he performed the solo versions of "Roxanne" and "Message in a Bottle".
"Spread a Little Happiness" was the name of his solo single which was released in 1982. Three years later he released his first solo album, called "The Dream of the Blue Turtles". In the album, there are featured some hits like "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" or "Russians".

As his career did not stop for a second, in February 2014, Sting started a concert tour, titled "On Stage Together".
