About the song
"Rock and Roll All Nite" is a single by American hard rock band Kiss, featured as a single for their 1975 album titled "Dressed to Kill".
On the album, it was the A-side for the song "Getaway". Recorded in February 1975 for the Casablanca label, "Rock and Roll All Nite" was written by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, getting produced with the aid of Neil Bogart.
In the United States, "Rock and Roll All Nite" ranked at a maximum place of 68 on the singles charts, becoming better than their former best single, "Kissin’ Time", which only got as high as 89.
The song has become one of their signature songs when it got released on a live album, this new version getting better in the charts, getting twelfth in 1976, becoming a premiere for Kiss, the only song to chart on the top 20.
"Rock and Roll All Nite" was designed to be similar to "I Want to Take You Higher" by Sly & The Family Stone and Slade’s "Cum on Feel the Noize" and eventually became a hymn for their fans with the line "I want to rock and roll all night, and party every day". The live version featured a great guitar solo by Ace Frehley and managed to save Kiss, as well as the Casablanca label, from an embarrassment.
"Rock and Roll All Nite" has been used on many of their albums, such as "Double Platinum", "Killers", "Smashes, Trashes & Hits", "Alive III", "Kiss Unplugged – Acoustic", "You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best!!", "Greatest Kiss", "The Box Set", "The Very Best of Kiss", "Kiss Symphony: Alive IV", "The Best of Kiss: The Millenium Collection", "Gold", "Kiss Chronicles", "Kiss Alive 35", "Kiss Klassics".
It has been covered by names such as Toad The Wet Sprocket, Poison, L.A. Guns, The Summer Set, Momoiro Clover Z and got used in video games such as Guitar Hero ones or Tony Hawk’s Underground, as well as Madden NFL 11.
