Walk This Way free piano sheet music by Aerosmith
About the song
"Walk This Way" is the title of single number two from Aerosmith’s album "Toys in the Attic".
Released in August, 1975, the song has been written by Joe Perry and Steven Tyler. In late 1974, while concerting in Honolulu, Joe Perry, while playing around on the guitar, invented the guitar riff that would lay the foundation for "Walk This Way". Adding a drum beat and a bridge, the song was produced partly in the studio, but the group struggled to find lyrics for it.
The title of the song was inspired from a Mel Brooks movie, titled "Young Frankenstein", when the group was laughing about a scene.
The lyrics were written by Tyler, but he lost them, so he had to work on them once more. The lyrics were greatly praised by the other members, especially for the "bouncy feel" that they had. The lyrics are about a teenager guy that loses his virginity and made the song a very original one.
"Walk This Way" ranked on the top 10 charts on the Billboard Hot 100, alongside "Dream On". This single though aided the album to become one of their best-selling ones and the praises from the critics are owed much to "Walk This Way" as well.
One of their signature songs, "Walk This Way" has gotten very large radio airplay, especially on the classic rock or album-oriented rock stations.
VH1 listed the song on the top 10 of the greatest hard rock songs of all time list, at place number eight. In Canada, the single ranked seventh on the RPM Top Singles charts.
"Walk This Way" by Aerosmith is a great hard rock song that also incorporates the rap genre. It can be played on the piano as well, thanks to the free piano sheet listed below.
