About Aerosmith

Aerosmith are a hard rock band from the United States, which involves other genre influences, such as heavy metal, blues and rhythm, as well as pop. Starting from two people which were part of a band named Jam Band, Aerosmith were formed in 1970-1971, when three more members joined, Steven Tyler, Ray Tabano and Joey Kramer.

They started doing live shows and signed with Columbia Records in 1972, when they debuted with the "Aerosmith" album, which got to place 166 on the charts. Their initial style was rock and roll, but they soon made the switch towards their blues rock vibe, which defined them.

With "Dream On" and "Walkin’ the Dog" or "Mama Kin", they gained initial fame, the first album got Gold certification. The second album got released in 1974, titled "Get Your Wings", starting to get great radio airplay with songs "Train Kept A-Rollin’" and "Same Old Song and Dance". The second album sold over 3 million times worldwide.

In 1975, they truly made a name for themselves with "Toys in the Attic", the album spawning hits "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way". Since then, their success was guaranteed, in 1976 the album "Rocks" getting instant success, both commercially and fan-wise. The album got featured on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.

In 1977, "Draw the Line" spawned "Kings and Queens" and marked the start of a number of great international tours for Aerosmith. In 1978, they also released the single "Chip Away the Stone", making it to top 80 on the charts. Their next albums were "Night in the Ruts" in 1979, "Rock in a Hard Place" in 1982, "Done with Mirrors" in 1985, "Permanent Vacation" in 1987, "Pump" in 1989, "Get a Grip" in 1993, "Nine Lives" in 1997, "Just Push Play" in 2001, "Honkin’ On Bobo" in 2004 and "Music from Another Dimension" in 2012.

Aerosmith are a great rock band which inspired many other great names, such as Nirvana, Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Skid Row, Faster Pussycat, Extreme, Metallica, Ratt, just to name a few. Aerosmith also collaborated with Alice Cooper, Eminem, Carrie Underwood, Run-DMC and acted as performers on the same stage as Nelly, Britney Spears, ‘N Sync, Mary J. Blige.

One of the most popular musical acts during the 70s, Aerosmith won four Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, with the songs "Crazy", "Pink", "Janie’s Got a Gun" and "Livin’ on the Edge". Among other honors and awards we can remember a total of 6 American Music Awards, as well as 2 People’s Choice Awards, 4 Billboard Music Awards and 16 Boston Music Awards. They were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Their albums got 25 times Gold, 18 times Platinum, 12 times multiple Platinum and even one time Diamond. They are thought to be the American rock band with the most sells all-time.
