About Lady Gaga

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, also known as Lady Gaga, is one if the most successful artists of the past years.

She was born on March 28th, 1986 in Manhattan, New York. She performed in high school productions such as "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" and "Guys And Dolls". She also had a small appearance on the television series "The Sopranos", on the episode "The Telltale Moozadell", in 2001.

After dropping from the University of New York, she decided to pursue a career in music.

She became musically active in 2005 when she recorded a few songs with Grandmaster Melle Mel. She also became part of a band named Stefani Germanotta Band, or SGBand. They used to perform songs from Led Zeppelin in various bars such as The Bitter End and Mercury Lounge.

This caught the attention of Joe Vulpis, a music producer.

One year later, she met a different producer, Rob Fussari who offered her the opportunity of a different stage name, based on one of Freddy Mercury's songs, "Radio Ga Ga": Lady Gaga.

In 2008, the singer had moved to Los Angeles, California, to work on her first album. It was released on August 19th, 2008 and it contained her breakthrough hit, "Just Dance".

It was one of the best selling singles of the year throughout the world and it gained her a Grammy Award for "Best Dance Recording". It was also nominated for "Song Of The Year" and "Record Of The Year".

"The Fame" won the "Best Dance Electronica Album" and it was highly praised by the music critics. It also contained the hit "Paparazzi". Later that year, she embarked in The Fame Ball World Tour.

Her EP, "The Fame Monster" consisted in eight tracks including "Bad Romance", a huge hit and the winner of two Grammys: "Best Short Form Music Video" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance".

Another hit was "Telephone", featuring Beyonce, which received a Grammy nomination for "Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals".

With the controversial video of "Alejandro" out, she became with more than one billion views on YouTube. Soon after, she embarked on another tour, The Fame Monster Ball Tour.

On May 23rd, 2011 she released "Born This Way", her second album. Also a success, it sold over one million on the first week, and besides the successful title song, it also contained hits like "Judas", "Hair", "The Edge Of Glory". In the same year she collaborated with Tony Benett on the song "The Lady Is A Tramp".

Lady Gaga's third studio album, "Artpop" was released in 2013 and topped the charts with hits like "Applause" and "Do What U Want".

One of the most successful artists in music history, Lady Gaga sold more than 27 million albums and 125 million singles.
