About John Mayer

John Mayer was born in 1977, in Connecticut and he is a famous American singer, producer and songwriter. He attended a magnet program at the Center for Global Studies at Brien McMahon High School. Mayer was inspired by Michael J. Fox’s performances which determined his father to rent him a guitar. During his adolescence, he took guitar lessons, enrolled in a band named "Villanova Junction" and performed in local bars.

Along with producer Glenn Matullo, he released the EP "Inside Wants Out" and his first single, "No Such Thing". He started offering performances throughout Georgia. As his popularity grew, he caught the attention of Aware Records which helped him release his internet-only album: "Room For Squares".

After a deal signed between Aware Records and Columbia Records, Mayer’s album was re-released in 2001, along with other songs from his debut album "Inside Wants Out". His singles "Why Georgia", " No Such Thing" and "Your Body Is A Wonderland" became radio hits and in 2003, John Mayer won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. After that, came the live CD "Any Given Thursday" which reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 chart and received positive reviews from music critics.

His second album, "Heavier Things" was also a success, and by the time it was released, in 2003, received praise from AllMusic, Blender and Rolling Stones. It topped the Billboard 200 chart and offered Mayer’s first number one: "Daughters". The single won the Grammy for Song Of The Year. At the same edition of the awards, John Mayer also won the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The following year, Mayer embarked on a nationwide tour and recorded many of his live concerts. As his popularity grew higher, he was invited by Steve Jobs to perform at the Macworld Conference&Expo. Jobs was enchanted with the artist and invited them, for a second time, in 2007.

Starting with 2005, Mayer made a change in his musical direction and started collaborating with artists such as Jay Z, Eric Clapton, Nelly, John Scofield and Herbie Hancock. The singer named as influences Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Freddie King, among others. In the same year, Mayer formed "The John Mayer trio", a band that also included Steve Jordan and Pina Palladino.

In November, they released their album, "Try!".

In 2006, he released his third album, "Continuum", which gave the successful hits "Waiting On The World To Change" and "Gravity". The latter appeared on the television series "House MD".  That year, he won two Grammy awards, one for Best Pop Song With Vocal and Best Pop Album. A re-issue of the album was released in 2007, along with a new successful single, "Say".

In 2009, John Mayer offered a guitar performance of Michael Jackson’s "Human Nature" at his memorial.

His following albums were "Battle Studies", "Born And Raised" and "Paradise Valley" which, all, proved to be a success.

John Mayer has become one of the dominant figures in the pop industry and one of the artists to receive a huge demand from the public.
