The Backstreet Boys are an American vocal group formed in Florida in 1993, consisting of A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell, singing mainly pop and R&B music. They enjoyed popularity even since their debut album in 1996, titled "Backstreet Boys". Their second album in 1997 titled "Backstreet’s Back" and getting their "Backstreet Boys" album released in 1997 in the US as well, their fame continued to grow and the public started loving them even since their beginnings. The Backstreet Boys had their very first performance at SeaWorld Orlando on May 8, 1993, continuing to perform alongside Florida, signing in February 1994. "We’ve Got It Goin’ On" was their debut single, recorded in June 1995 in Sweden, being a success in Europe, where their popularity continued to grow with the release of their debut album, "I’ll Never Break Your Heart" getting massive airplay and reaching Gold status in Germany. "Anywhere for You" was their last single from their first album and the group started working on their second album, also recording "If You Stay". Their second album topped the charts in Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria.
Beginning to work on their third album titled "Millenium", they released hit single "I Want It That Way", topping the singles charts in over 25 countries. The album entered the Billboard 200 at number one and singles "I Want It That Way", "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely", "Larger than Life" and "The One" got released from it, getting certified 13 times Platinum. Their Millenium Tour had 115 sold-out shows in 84 cities, their Georgia Dome concert being the most attended concert by a pop artist. In May 2000 they started working at their fourth album, releasing a compilation album titled "For the Fans" with song "It’s True" featured on it. The album "Black & Blue" got released in November 2000, selling over 5 million copies in its first week. The three singles spawned from the album were "Shape of My Heart", "The Call" and "More than That". "The Hits: Chapter One", their first compilation album, was released on October 23, 2001.
In January 2004 the "Boys" started working on a new album, releasing the first single titled "Incomplete" on March 2005. "Never Gone" got released on June, but the massive change in their style drew negative criticism, even though it was successful, getting certified Platinum in the US and its second single hit the Top 10 in the UK. The album "Unbreakable" was released on October 2007 without Richardson, who left the band.
On October 2009 they released their next album titled "This Is Us", going back to their original R&B sound, debuting at number nine. Richardson returned in 2011 to the group and they released the first single for their eigth album titled "In A World Like This" on June 2013. The group won an award for "Best Musical Moment" at 2014 MTV Movie Awards for their performance in the movie "This Is The End".
