Free piano sheet music from Five for Fighting

About Five for Fighting

Five for Fighting is the stage name for American Vladimir John Ondrasik III, a singer-songwriter that plays the piano throughout most of his songs, with accent on the pop rock and alternative rock genres.

Being born in a family of musicians, he started playing the piano as a child and as a teenager even took on the guitar and started writing music by himself. Having a short opera inclination as well, he decided that his talent is better put to use in songwriting and he followed his dream.

After graduating from UCLA, he decided upon his stage name from a hockey term, that expresses the idea of penalty time for a player that got in a fight.

The message of his title is pretty witty, meaning that you always have to take some time out and think about what you’ve done when doing something wrong. Being a natural born piano player, we hope you can enjoy the piano sheets we are going to list for this rock musician.

His first album was released in 1997 by EMI, entitled “Message for Albert”. The A&R label, having been passed demos from Mark Cunningham, signed a deal with Ondrasik, in collaboration with Columbia Records. And his second album was released three years later than his first one, in 2000, being calld “America Town”.

The album was successful and the track “Superman” reached top on Hot Adult Contemporary and second on Adult Contemporary, third on Triple A and 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Being performed by Ondrasik after the September 11 at The Concert for New York City in 2001, the song became even more known and recognized.

We hope that you can enjoy this artist’s piano sheets, his songs are very original and melodic.

With his third album debuting at number 20 on Billboard 200 in 2004, the single “100 Years”reached top on Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks.

The album was called “The Battle for Everything” and it was certified Platinum in 2009. In 2006, “Two Lights” got released and it debuted number eight on Billboard 200, with the single “The Riddle(You And I)” reaching as high as place 40 on Billboard Hot 100, the second single “World” reaching 14 on Hot AC.

His next album was called “Slice”, released in 2009, for which talented composers worked on, especially Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz. His first single from “Slice” was “Chances”, which got featured at the end of the movie “The Blind Side”.

Moving from Columbia Records to Wind-Up Records, he has collaborated with many artists and still is to this day, co-writing for the likes of Backstreet Boys or Josh Groban. His last album, “Bookmarks”, got released in 2013, but wasn’t as successful as his previous ones.

Writing music for several movies such as “August Rush”, “Chicken Little”, “Everyone’s Hero”, “We were soldiers” and even recording a song for the “Brothers in Arms” documentary, Five for Fighting is an elaborate musical act, from which we hope to continue to hear.

We hope that we can add as many piano players as possible in our database and enjoy PianoForge and our fresh piano sheets!
