Free piano sheet music from Dean Martin
About Dean Martin
Dean Martin is an artist representing swing and jazz, active between 1940 and 1988, time in which he also produced lots and lots of movies, acting mostly as a comedian.
Originating from Italy, he didn’t speak English until he was five years old, when he started going to school.
His childhood is most interesting, he dropped out of high school and started working to earn a living, even went as a blackjack dealer for some time. But the peak of his childhood was when he boxed at the age of 15, not having much success in the field though.
He went back to working in gambling environments, but he also started singing locally, which started his musical career. It is all thanks to the Ernie McKay Orchestra that now we can have the sheet music for Dean Martin’s original song, "Sway", among other possible titles to learn the piano from.
He recorded his first song in July 1946, a song called "Which way did my heart go / All of Me" and from there he only went upwards. A 10 inch LP was his official debut album in January 1953, "Dean Martin Sings", but the first full length album he released was 2 years later, when Capitol Records published "Swingin’ Down Yonder".
"Memories Are Made of This" raised to the top of the pop charts and stayed there as his 1956 single, it’s a big wonder it never got incorporated into his ulterior album, "Pretty Baby".
From the total of 32 studio albums that he released in his huge career, one of the most interesting are "French Style", the song "C’est si bon" that used to be sung with a chorus shines through between the others, being a masterpiece that only fortunate ones got to experience live.
Also, two years later, one of his best albums, "The Door is Still Open to My Heart" contained the album-titled single that got as high as number 9 on Billboard 200, thanks to the beautiful arrangements by Ernie Freeman and Gus Levine.
These two guys were responsible for most of the instrumental arrangements and I think that they would be proud to know that nowadays the songs they worked on have their own piano sheets spread on a thing called the Internet, for people to learn and teach others.
"My Woman My Woman My Wife" and "You’re the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" made Dean very popular with the lady fans, not that he wasn’t until then, but it seems that as he grew older, he got a more and more refined taste in music and the themes surrounding jazz, so he never stopped developing himself as a superb show man.
Expect fresh and exquisite piano sheets for Dean Martin and his undying music.
