Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds free piano sheet music by The Beatles

About the song

The song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by The Beatles was written by John Lennon and credited to the famous Lennon–McCartney duo.

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was released on the 1st of June 1967 as part of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. It was released under the Parlophone record label.

The song was inspired from Lennon's son Julian. Julian, when at nursery school, named a drawing "Lucy - in the sky with diamonds". Even if Julian used to show his dad all his drawings, it was obviously that Julian had some affection for Lucy, and also the drawing ended up being a sparkling idea for his dad.

The lyrics of the song were derived from the literary style of "Alice In Wonderland". It is well known that Lennon had read and admired the works of Lewis Carroll, and the title of Julian's drawing reminded him of the chapter of "Through the Looking Glass" in which Alice floats in a boat.

Others consider that the song might be a reflection of John’s drug experiences, since the first letters of each word lead to "LSD"- Lysergic acid diethylamide, known as a psychedelic drug. John Lennon denied this through.
